Walk or cycle the canal ring

Amsterdam's UNESCO-listed canal ring is the city's masterpiece, and exploring it costs nothing. Wander or cycle along the Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht, cross the little humpback bridges, and lose an afternoon to the gabled houses, houseboats, and brown cafés. The Jordaan district, just off the ring, is the loveliest corner for aimless drifting. Hire a bike to do it like a local, or simply walk.
